Formspring Wednesday!

Who is your favorite Disney character?

Oh wow, this is hard...hmmm. Well, I collect a LOT of Tinker Bell merchandise so I think I have to say her. I just think she's adorable. I love her in Peter Pan and I like her in her own movies, and just simply LOVE her. I will buy anything with her on it. Honorable mentions: Princess Aurora and Prince Philip.

Thank you for your question, meganwdwcp2010!

I really appreciate your question!

Until next time, have a magical day!

Formspring Wednesdays

So, yesterday I had to go on a last ditch effort to get some questions, and you guys came through! I have three real beautiful questions in my inbox right now! Thank you! I really do appreciate it!

But, as so many people on Formspring have experienced, the anonymity can sometimes be a bad thing. People decide to take advantage of that, and use it to be cruel. This happened to me this morning. Now, I'll say that while these comments do not make me doubt myself, they do make me angry. They make me angry that I know someone, somewhere who would say these things anonymously because this can only mean that whoever this is is being nice to me to my face. Which means that I'm being duped into believing someone is a friend or an acquaintance. These person's comments (Yes, I'm certain it was one person who submitted TWO comments) include the following:

"You are a terrible singer I wish someone had told you that before you entered a singing competition."

and

"Do you realize you cant sing ?"

Now I'm not one to reject constructive criticism, but this isn't constructive at all. Whoever this is just needs to say this stuff to my face. I know I'm not the greatest singer in the world, but I also know that I have family and friends who respect me enough to TELL ME if I was that terrible. If this person meant these things at all they would be brave enough to say them to me directly without the cowardly mask of anonymity. And that's all I have to say on the matter.

Now onto the real questions from the wonderful people.

Today, we have three Formspring Questions that I'm going to be answering for you guys. Enjoy!

Are you going to go to Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure while your down their?

Most definitely!  I really enjoy Universal Studios. Disney World is my favorite but Universal has some top notch rides. I love the Mummy rollercoaster, Twister: Ride it Out, Jaws, and all the other AWESOME attractions at Universal. Plus, Islands of Adventure has Marvel Superhero Island which is my favorite place island at the moment, but that may change once I get the chance to visit THE WIZARDING WORLD OF HARRY POTTER! So pumped to see that place! I can not wait! I am a Harry Potter fanatic! I love the books and I love the movies!

When did you become interested in Disney?

Ever since I saw a little movie called "The Little Mermaid". Seriously, it was the first Disney movie I ever watched, and I loved it. I grew up in that generation that got to watch all those early nineties Disney movies when they were new releases. Movies like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King all came out while I was in elementary school. Along with those new releases though my parents made sure to expose to the Disney they grew up with (So, I grew up loving movies like Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty). I also got to experience the Disney my brother grew up with as well (which was Oliver & Company, The Rescuers, and The Great Mouse Detective). I also have aunts and uncles who are Disney experts. When my aunt got married her honeymoon was in Disney World. I grew up with sing-a-longs that immortalized the place for me, and yet I didn't get to go until I was 15. So, I guess you could say me doing this program is me trying to make up for not seeing the place as a kid.

What is your dream job?

Dream job? My absolute DREAM job is to be a singer and actress. Now I doubt this will ever happen, but it's the job I dream about having. I love to sing (I have a passion for broadway and country music), I have a blast acting, and I would love to make a living doing those things! I plan on learning to play the guitar this summer. But the drawback is that if I were to be an actress I would have no drive to be taken seriously. I love comedy, and I love fluffy romantic comedies so I would probably make more of those than anything else. Of course, I wouldn't object to playing the comic relief in an action/adventure movie or the plucky sidekick in a superhero movie, lol. So, your answer is I would love to either be a country singer or an actress (of any kind: broadway, TV, or Film).

[INFOPOST] Things to Think About: Financial Aid

If you're applying for the program then Financial Aid should be one of the first things you think about. If you're applying in January for the Fall you've got to think about the FAFSA, If you've got private scholarships you'll need to meet with your financial aid counselor, and if you've got loans you'll need to make sure the program doesn't accidentally activate your college loan "grace period."

Some schools make it difficult to meet with your financial aid counselor (like mine.) Our counselors at ASU prefer to do things over the phone rather than in person, but it may not be that way at your school. Also, it depends on what kind of financial aid you have. All of my financial aid is Federal and is a result of my FAFSA so all I had to worry about was how to re-apply for FAFSA.

I called my counselor and she told me to apply like I did every year and just to fill it out like I was coming back in the Fall and then when I hear back about my awards I would need to make it clear WHICH semester I would be accepting them for.

Also, the FAFSA Customer Service lady told me to make sure the "grace period" on my student loans was tripped while I was in Florida. If you have a loan you get a "grace period" before you have to start paying them back, and it's possible that my absence from school while on the program could be seen as me no longer being in school. My "grace period" could start while in Florida and then I would have to start paying back loans when I return home. We definitely don't won't that.

So I've got to call Financial Aid today and make sure nothing happens with my loans. Hopefully, she'll ask if I want to make an appointment. I would really feel better discussing it in person. It just feels more official than discussing it over the phone. If she doesn't, though, I can deal. As long as I KNOW that the government knows I'm not through with school yet.

Anyways, there's your hopefully helpful post for the day! No Formspring Wednesday once again. This week I had only one question from my cousin Kayla, and it wasn't really a question about the program. It was a personal thing. So I'll answer her question privately.

Don't forget to ask me stuff though! You can use the widget on the right side or you can go directly to my Formspring at http://www.formspring.me/angellwings

Also, I'll be posting a new Vlog tonight! Part 4 will be posted tonight and Part 5 will be posted tomorrow!

Until next time, have a magical day!

ASU's Disney Send Off Party! (and Formspring stuff)

So tonight at 6PM I attended my school's Disney College Program Send Off Party. It was really fun and informative but wasn't really a party. It was really just all of sitting in a circle asking questions and discussing the reality of the Program.

The campus reps brought us pizza, and we sat together in a room in the Student Union and talked. They gave us a packet of information to help us while we're in Orlando. It has helpful tips and a list of grocery stores and restaurants nearby, and lots of other great information. I got the skinny on going seasonal (which I will hopefully end up doing), and clarified a few things like Main Gate Passes.

I found out that there are 10 of us from AppState headed to Orlando. We have no students going to California. Originally there were 15 of us going to Orlando, but 1 changed her mind and FOUR never even responded to their offers. Only eight of us were at the party because the last two were just unavailable for the night.

It was really chill and laid back. I had a ton of fun getting to know some of the cool people that will be down there when I will be. I have to say that my AppState D-fam seems pretty awesome. A lot of the Campus Reps are graduating this year, so this helps my chances for when I apply to be a campus rep at the end of my Program. They were all really amazing and helpful. If you've got campus reps at your school, don't be afraid of them. They really just want you to be comfortable with your Disney adventure. They're willing to help anyway they can.

So that's all I have about the Send Off party. Now to explain why there was no "Formspring Wednesday" this week. Formspring is being difficult. I answered two questions on Wednesday but Formspring is only showing that I answered one. The second question I answered has just dissappeared.

So instead of a post please see Vlog #13 for this week's Formspring Wednesday questions.

That's all for now! Until next time, have a magical day!

Formspring Wednesday!

where did you answer my questions? Are you coming this weekend?
This question is from my cousin Kayla, and I'm guessing she was asking about our family's Easter Breakfast that we have every Good Friday. Kayla, yes I did come, lol. And are you talking about your questions about coming to visit me and me getting you a T-shirt? I answered those a long time ago. Just click on the tag "Formspring" and it should be one of the posts that come up. Btw, I will be at your birthday part this weekend! Are you a liscensed driver yet, cousin? ;)

If you could marry any animated Disney hero, who would you choose?
oh man, this is hard. I like them all really, but if I was going to MARRY one of them it would be Prince Phillip. He's a Prince, but he seems very modest and chill. He's confident and pretty funny I'd say. If you haven't watched "Sleeping Beauty" in a while, go watch it. Phillip is actually really funny (espescially when talking to his father, haha.) Yes, I would marry Phillip. Or Prince Edward from Enchanted just because he looks and sings like James Marsden. :)

Formspring Wednesday!

where do u want to live? and when are u leaving for disney? -daisy

I want to live in Chatham. Patterson is my second choice. And I'm leaving for Disney on August 5th. My family and I will be spending a few days in Orlando before I check in on the 9th.

what is going to be arrival date? -daisy
My official DCP Check in Day is August 9th. I'll be in Orlando a few days before that though in order to spend some time with my family before the program starts.

k i just found out my question i just kept on reading ur blog sorry would u like to b roomies? check me out https://twitter.com/daisymercade777 http://www.youtube.com/user/daisymercade777?feature=mhw5 http://daisywdwcp.blogspot.com
Well, I'll have to discuss it with my other roomates. At this moment I have three other roomates, and right now we're waiting to hear back from some people, but I will definately keep you in mind and discuss it with them! Just took a look at your blog! Can't wait to meet you in Florida.

Thanks for all your questions, Daisy! I just realized that I think I'm already following you on Twitter. Congrats on getting in to the program! See you in Florida!

That's all for right now. Until next time, have a magical day!

Formspring Wednesdays!

Do you think it affects your chances of getting in the DCP if you never been to disneyworld?
No, I don't. I think as long as you express a love and passion for the parks, the company, and the guests it really doesn't matter if you've never actually been to Disney World. Above everything else they look for some one who will be able to handle guest relations.

have you ever heard of this book? it was written by a former cast member. http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Cast-Member-Confidential/Chris-Mitchell/e/9780806531281/?itm=1&USRI=cast+member+confidential
I have heard of that book, but I've never read it. I may have to add it to my summer reading list! :)

I have a pet slug named Ralph. My best friend has a pet slug as well named George. I live in Chicago and he lives in Atlanta. Where should we meet for a slug playdate?
I love this question! I suggest you meet either in Charlotte, North Carolina or Washington, DC. They're both toward the middle of Chicago and Atlanta. ;)

Did you put in any requests for work locations? (Sorry if I didn't see this on your blog!)
No, I didn't. I have in mind places that I would love to work in, but I haven't put in a request. I figure I will work where ever the good Lord wants me to work. They can place me where ever they'd like. I have yet to see a location that I would HATE to work at.

When did you first visit WDW? Do you have any vivid memories from then?
My first trip to Disney was when I was 16. I only got to to go to two Disney parks. Epcot and MGM (or Studios as it's called now). My most vivid memory is walking into Epcot and seeing Spaceship Earth. I was in complete awe. My other most vivid memory is riding Tower of Terror at the Studios. My aunt and I were terrified. We held onto eachother as we dropped and the picture ended up being of the two of us turned toward eachother, screaming bloody murder. It was hilarious.

Has anyone ever told you that you look like Kirsten Dunst?
No, actually. I've been told I look like Reese Witherspoon and Ginger Rogers, but not Kirsten Dunst! Thanks so much! I'm flattered! She's very pretty!

Wow, guys! I was shocked to find this many questions waiting for me! You guys are awesome! Thanks so much for all the questions! You guys rock! There will be another Formspring Wednesday next week! If you have a question I'll answer it then! The link to my Formspring is: http://www.formspring.me/angellwings

I think I'll also answer these questions in Vlog form this weekend as well. I know there are some people who watch my vlogs but don't read my blogs. So that vlog will be for them.

Until next time, have a magical day!

Formspring Wednesdays...oh, wait...I have no questions.

So, as you can see by the title today is Formspring Wednesday...

But I have no Formspring questions to answer.

That's okay though, you don't have to ask me anything if you don't want to. But really I would take any question. Even silly ones (which shouldn't surprise if you look back at my other Formspring posts, lol.) Feel free to ask my any question that comes to mind as long as it's not vulgar.

Life Update:

The summer job hunt has begun! So far I've applied for five jobs (technically seven since I applied for three postitions at Target.) I plan on applying to four more places. I hope I hear something about ONE of them. If not I'll have to go with my backup and ask if the daycare at my church needs help for the summer.

My mother finally decided where we are going to stay in August! Last time I talked to her she was going to book us a room last night. I let her pick the hotel because, well, she's the one paying for it. I thought she was going to go with Embassy Suites of another off propery hotel, but everywhere she found with a good rate had like a bajillion extra fees tacked on to it. So she decided it would be cheaper to stay on DISNEY PROPERTY! YAY! She booked us a room at the ALL STAR MUSIC RESORT! I'm so excited! I have a secret goal to stay in at least one resort at every Disney Price Range level. I've stayed at a Deluxe Villa Resort. Now I just need to stay at a Deluxe and a Moderate since mom has decided we're staying at a Value resort.

I still haven't met with financial aid or called to schedule an audit with the Dean's office. When I get back from class today I'll scrounge around for the phone number or e-mail of the Dean's office so that I can get that done. Also after class today I've got to correct and sign my FAFSA. Mom filled it out for me, but she forgot to sign it for me so I've got to do that. Then over the weekend I'm going to write down my questions for my financial aid counselor and then I'm going to call her on Monday. That's the plan and I'm sticking to it! No more procrastinating about any of those things!

On Friday, I'll be heading home for the weekend and then on Saturday I'll be spending the day at Camp Mundo Vista. Camp is where I've spent my last three summers. I was a Cabin Leader (Camp Counselor) there for three summers starting in 2007, and I've agreed to help with two of their spring day camps. I'm really looking forward to it. Saturday night I'll head home and then spend Sunday morning into Sunday afternoon with the family before coming back to school. I'll try to document the wonderful Camp experience so that you can all see it. I'll be taking my Flip Camera and my digital still camera. Be on the lookout for craziness! Because that usually happens at Camp. Ha ha.

That's all for today folks! Until next time, have a magical day!

Formspring!

Both of these question came from my awesome cousin who I love to death!

will you get me a tshirt! kharrell
Kayla, I will, of course, get you a t-shirt lol! What kind of cousin would I be if I didn't? ha ha
what the world! When can I come? DO I get free passes! and is my flight free?kvh
I'm saving all of my "Main Gate Passes" for family. So I can get you and two other people in free. I have 6 of them I think, and they are all being saved for family visits. Your flight or transportation you would have to pay for, but I can get you a pretty good discount on a hotel though! You'll totally have to come visit me! :)

Until next time, have a magical day!

Formspring! :)

If someone told you that you had to choose between High School Musical, or the Jonas Brothers, which would you pick? (and yes, you just got Jobro'd) hehe
oh gosh, between HSM and the JoBros?! How can I choose?! Hmm...I think I would have to go with the JoBros because they're in Camp Rock AND Jonas AND have awesome music. Gah, I can't believe I just chose between those two! Ha ha! ;)

Formspring and THANK YOU'S!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-Ashley-
LOL, THANKS! ha ha.

Have I told you guys how awesome you are? Seriously. AWESOME.

I realized a few minutes ago that I have 35 followers! THAT'S AMAZING! No lie. I'm impressed and grateful! Woo hoo!

Here's a present (or two) to show my appreciation!

Disney World desktop background I made (If you click it, it will become bigger!):

Disney World Twitter background I made (You'll have to match the background color to the image. It's annoying but not very hard, lol):

Good luck to those of you still applying, interviewing, and waiting! I'm sure I'll see you all in Florida!

My Second Formspring Question!

If you were a hot dog, and you were starving, would you eat yourself?
Oh man, this requires deep thought...hmmm. Okay, I'm ready to answer now. Oh I wish I were an Oscar Meyer weiner that is what I truly want to be, and if I were an Oscar Meyer everyone would be in love with me! And yes, I would eat myself...because hot dogs are DELICIOUS! I might even put a little mustard and chili on myself to add some flavor. ;)

My first Formspring Question!

Is there any role for the program that you really don't want to have?
Hmmm, this is a good question. Is there a role that I wouldn't do? Yes, I wouldn't want to do Transportation. 1) I don't enjoy driving. I do it because it gets me place and helps me be independant (and I can sing as loud as I want in my own car) 2) I am not a good driver. Trust me, no guest would want to be in a Tram/boat/monorail that I would be driving. It wouldn't end well. Plus driving other people around stresses me out (because I don't want to freak them out with my scary driving. ha ha.)

[INFOPOST] What is the Disney College Program?

I've gotten this question a lot since I started this blog, and since I have about half an hour until my group meeting at four I thought I would take a few minutes to answer that question.

The Disney College Program is basically a paid internship that allows college students to spend a semester working at the Disney Parks and Resorts. For a lot of people it is the first step towards a career with Disney. I'm hoping to be one of those people. The program really only takes place during the semester, but they do have a summer program for Alumni. You can take classes while being a part of the program. I plan on taking at least one class. They give you a place to live (and automatically deduct weekly rent from your paycheck.) If you're a DCP alumni you have the opportunity to apply for certain internships that other people can't which could lead to a career with the Disney Company.

And that, my friends is the Disney College Program in a nutshell.

I added a Formspring to this blog so if you're reading this and you have questions for me then feel free to ask! I would be more than happy to answer them!
