Top 5 Resort Work Locations

So I realized last night that the reason I couldn't narrow down any dream locations was because I was thinking too broad. I was trying to look at the entire park. That's too much. So, I sat down and made Top 5 lists for each category of Disney Property. Now I don't know where we can or can't be assigned so I just assumed that if it was listed on Disney Website then we could be assigned there for the most part. I scoured the Disney website for Resorts that had shops in them and here are my top 5 favorites.

5. The Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

There are two trading posts on this resort and campground that carry a little bit of everything. Character merchandise, cameras, groceries, sunscreen, etc. If you forgot it at home then they have it for you to buy. I think this would be a fun resort to work out. Most of the guests that stay at this resort are families. I have a soft spot for families as I come from a very large, very close family. I think I would enjoy working at this resort.

4. All Star Movies Resort

All Star Movies is home to Donald's Double Feature. A shop that features character merchandise and other little items guests might need during their stay. It also features items like tote bags and things that might make walking around the park for extended periods of time easier. Again, because this is a value resort it would be home to younger families. I think this would be fun, and the theme is awesome! I love movies so why not work in a resort themed after them?

3. Port Orleans -- Riverside

This resort has a shop called Fulton's General Store. I have always wanted to visit this resort. I think it looks like a fun and beautifully themed one. This store carries much of the same things as the previous stores I mentioned. Almost all of the resort shops carry the same merchandise.

2. The Polynesian

The Polynesian has two shops and I would gladly work at either of them. There's Trader Jack's which isjust like all the other stores I've mentioned and then there's Bou-tiki. Bou-tiki has more clothing items and has a fun name! That's just fun to say. Try it! "Bou-tiki" These shops are at a long time guest favorite resort which I've personally never visited, but I would LOVE to work there. The guests that stay at the polynesian are definately there for the full immersive Disney experience.

1. Old Key West

Don't pretend like you didn't see this coming. You totally did. Old Key West is my Disney home. The resort my family stays in when we travel to Disney. I've spent lots of time in the Conch Flatts General Store. It's a great store at a great resort. I know the service at this resort to be outstanding and very friendly. In fact the last time I was at Conch Flatts my mom and I talked to the girl working the counter at the store for a bit and she was a CP. She said she LOVED working the CP, but then again I was a guest at the time so it's not like she could tell me if she WASN'T enjoying the experience.

Well, that's all for today!

Until next time, have a magical day!

Formspring! :)

If someone told you that you had to choose between High School Musical, or the Jonas Brothers, which would you pick? (and yes, you just got Jobro'd) hehe
oh gosh, between HSM and the JoBros?! How can I choose?! Hmm...I think I would have to go with the JoBros because they're in Camp Rock AND Jonas AND have awesome music. Gah, I can't believe I just chose between those two! Ha ha! ;)

Top 5 Things I MUST Do Before I Leave for Florida

Today's Top 5 has to do with preparing to leave school and arrive at the CP. These are the top 5 most important things for me to do before I even start to pack.

5. Find 4 apartment-mates so that Michelle and I can get into a 3 Bedroom apartment.

Right now this is at the bottom of my priority list but as I take care of the other four it will work it's way up. Michelle and I want to be in a 3 Bedroom because rent ist cheaper so we need 4 other roomies. We may have two more lined up but we have to see how a few things pan out. So we're still for sure looking for 2 more.

4. Make sure SOMEONE fixes my car.

I need my car. Right now Ruby the Escahpay isn't feeling very well and no one can tell me what's wrong. I wish there was a Dr. House of mechanics that would be awesome. My dad's going to try and find someone to fix it by Spring Break, but we'll see if that happens.

3. Visit my advisors and inform them of why I won't be registering for Fall classes.

I have made advising appointments for the week after Spring Break to inform my advisors where I'll be going and when I'll be contacting them to register for Spring classes. I'm very excited about it, but I'm nervous as well. My Advertising Advisor knows nothing about the program and he didn't seem very thrilled about me applying.

2. Visit Sharon in Career Development to discuss the necessary paperwork

Sharon is the amazing Disney Rep for my school's Career Development Center. She helped me figure out the possible complications like insurance and financial aid before I even applied. She gave me to do lists for after I got in and tips for the phone interview. I'm going to meet with her to discuss the forms I need to fill out before I leave. Some of the questions on them are phrased in a scary way. I don't want them to think I'm dropping out.

1. Call the registrar and schedule my senior audit.

This is my second to last semester and as such I must have the registrar office tell me how close I am to graduating. Some time in the next week I need to call and set up my audit. My very last semester of College will be the semester after I get back from the CP so I need to go ahead and have that done.

Until next time, have a magical day!

Formspring and THANK YOU'S!

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!-Ashley-
LOL, THANKS! ha ha.

Have I told you guys how awesome you are? Seriously. AWESOME.

I realized a few minutes ago that I have 35 followers! THAT'S AMAZING! No lie. I'm impressed and grateful! Woo hoo!

Here's a present (or two) to show my appreciation!

Disney World desktop background I made (If you click it, it will become bigger!):

Disney World Twitter background I made (You'll have to match the background color to the image. It's annoying but not very hard, lol):

Good luck to those of you still applying, interviewing, and waiting! I'm sure I'll see you all in Florida!

My Top 5 Work Locations!

The Top 5 lists are BACK! Yay! So, I thought today I would tell you guys my top 5 work locations, but the problem is that as I was looking around I realized that there are SO MANY COOL PLACES that I couldn't give you guys a ton of specifics. But here's the list I came up with:

5. Resort shops

If I'm going to work at a resort though I would want to work at my Disney Home. Old Key West. The Conch Flatts General Store. Love it. :)

4. World of Disney in Downtown Disney

This is the most amazing Disney Store ever, and if I can't work at any of the parksI would LOVE to work there. So awesome.

3. Mouse Gear

I'm not a huge fan of Epcot. I like it, and enjoy going there but if I only had two days at WDW and could only go to two parks it's not one I would visit. But Mouse Gear is a really cool store! I spent hours in there last time I was in Epcot. I bought a whole bunch of Tinkerbell stuff at that store. It was awesome. I would definitely work there.

2. Any Disney Hollywood Studios shop

DHS has so many cool shops that I honestly would work at ANY of them. No lie. It's my favorite park so I would flip if I was assigned to work there.

1. Any Magic Kingdom shop

I would LOVE to work at the Magic Kingdom. It's not my favorite park, but it certainly is the most magical! I love all the shops at this park too. I would love to work at the shop in Cinderella's Castle. I just think it would be cool to say, "Yeah, I work in a Castle all day." Hee hee, that would be fun.

Until next time, have a magical day!

Then there's a sheet about the Disney Look, and a "Parent Fact Sheet." There's also 3D glasses for me to use on this game they have on the DCP website that you can play once you accept your role and pay your fee (which I've done.)

Here's a picture of me and my folder (I might take another one later, this picture isn't my favorite of me ever):

Road Trip/Check-in Day Outfit!

Now that I'm officially a Walt Disney World College Program participant for Fall 2010 I feel like I can show you guys what I would and maybe will wear on that lovely trip down to Florida or for Check in at Vista Way on August 9th, 2010. I LOVE Old Navy and American Eagle so most of these items come from those two stores. I'm also a big fan of Ray Bans specifically Wayfarers. Anyway, If you look you'll see I've got my tote packed with things I take on EVERY road trip like Vitamin Water and Cheddar Harvest SunChips. I also have my camera, my flip camera, my phone, and my iPod. Those go with me everywhere that I want to make memories.

3. Male or female?:
Female

4. Gay, straight, bi (optional):
Straight

5. Where do you live?:
during the school year I live in Boone, NC and when I'm not in school I live in Davidson County, NC

Fall! I'm arriving on August 9th, 2010 and leaving January 7th, 2010

8. Which apartment complex would you prefer to live at?
Chatham! Patterson is the second option. I've just heard that Vista is the loud place. I'm not a fan of loud. So the future roomie (Michelle! Hi!) and I are looking for quiet apartment-mates (at least quiet at night or during sleepy times. Yes I said sleepy times.)

9. How many roommates/rooms would you like? (1-7 roommates, 1-4 rooms)?
I think 3 bedrooms would be a good size. I don't want anything too small because that more money gone from your paycheck. So I think anything upwards of 2 Bedrooms would be good.

10. Do you like to party? Will you be hosting parties in your apartment?:
No. Not unless you count board games and movie marathons as parties. I like to have fun, but I'm not a big crazy partier. I'm more of a quiet evening chilling with friends kind of girl. That's not to say that I don't want to have fun...I just don't want to have certain kinds of fun.

11. What's your favorite food, and more importantly, can you cook well?:
I love potatoes! Anyway they are cooked I'm a fan! As for my cooking skills, I've been practicing. I LOVE to bake, and I love trying new recipes. I make this bread called Apple Cider Quick Bread. Also I have the Julia Child "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" cookbook which I WILL be bringing with me to try and cook from.

12. If your friends could describe you in three words what would they be?:
Funny, Supportive, Driven, Crazy.

13. What kind of music/movies do you like?:
I love pop and country. I'm a big fan of people like Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, Fefe Dobson, Ashley Tisdale, Colbie Callait, and Selena Gomez. I love basically all country music (except for anything by Big Kenny, yuck.) I adore the Jonas Brothers and John Mayer as well. Plus Micheal Buble. Also I have a huge crush on Jimmy Wayne and Chris Young (country singers...such cuties.) I also LOVE broadway music.

As for movies...I like romantic comedies, Disney movies (duh), musicals, and basically any kind of movie. I don't really enjoy a whole lot of rated R movies specifically if the movie is rated R for language. I can't take a whole lot of cursing. I don't mind some cursing, but if it's every other word I can't watch it.

14. Do you smoke, and if so, inside or outside?:
Don't smoke. I grew up with it though so if you do smoke...just take it outside. That's all I ask.

15. Do you drink?
No. I don't drink. I don't think less of anyone who does I just don't have an inclination to drink.

16. Are you a night person or a morning person?:
I can go either way. I go through phases where I want to get up early in the morning and then I'll go through phases where I want to stay up really late. Usually though I enjoy the night time more than the morning.

17. Are you driving or flying down?:
Driving (provided my car is repaired by then.) I really want my car in Florida with me.

I'm respectful.

23. Name one bad quality about yourself:
I procrastinate.

24: Your college:
Appalachian State University

25: Your major:
Advertising with a Creative Focus (aka Ad Layout and Design. Check out my sample work at http://www.angellwings.posterous.com )

26. Any medical conditions (optional):
Nope.

27. Are you messy/tidy?:
Most of the time I'm pretty tidy, but my room can get really cluttered. I try not to let it get that way though. I ALWAYS keep common areas clean for other roomates and apartment-mates though. I usually do my dishes right after I use them to keep things from piling up in the sink.

28. Anything else you want to state:
I'm quiet so if I don't talk sometimes it's just because I'm thinking or not in the mood to talk. It doesn't mean I'm upset. I just enjoy quiet (because it's so very rare.)

29. Favorite Disney movie?
Sleeping Beauty, but I have a strong affection for anything Alan Menken did for Disney (Who else is excited for Rapunzel? Woo!)

30. How many times have you been to Disney?
Twice, but that will change big time come August!

31. Favorite park?
MGM (aka Hollywood Studios). I love movies, TV, and broadway so it makes sense that my favorite park would have all of those themes. Fantasmic is my favorite night time show, and MGM has the best thrill rides. Not to mention it houses Star Tours, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, and Muppet Vision. Plus, who can forget the Great Movie Ride?

32. Favorite ride?
Splash Mountain or Big Thunder Mountain. Thrills and good fun. What more needs to be said?

33. Favorite show?
Not counting night time shows? The Festival of the Lion King. So many great things about that show! The talent is AMAZING.

34. Favorite resort?
Old Key West. I consider it my Disney home.

35. Favorite dining?
The bakery in Paris at Epcot! DELICIOUS!

36. Favorite character?
Oh gosh, Aurora, Prince Phillip, or Tinkerbell. It's so hard to choose. Phillip was the first Disney Prince to be developed as a character so I adore him, and Aurora is my favorite princess, but Tinkerbell is just so fiesty! You have to love her!

37. I prefer to sleep in a room that has:
darkness and quiet.

38. I like to go to bed:
When my eyelids become heavy and droopy.

39. I sleep better when the room is:
Dark, Quiet, and a little cold so I can tuck my covers up to my chin.

40. I would prefer to sleep in a room that is:
Um isn't this the same question as 39?

41. I would prefer guests:
be polite, quiet, and not messy. (copied Michelle's answer because I TOTALLY agree.)

42. I absolutely could not live with a roommate that:
is obnoxious, loud, or messy. (again totally agree with Michelle.)

43. Do you snore:
I don't think so...

44. On your day off..what time would you wake up:
Depends. But I try to be up by 10 most days. Just so I don't waste away the day.

If you think you might want to share an apartment with me or Michelle (who's blog you can find at http://keepmovingforwarddcp.blogspot.com/ ) please let one of us know. We're looking for some awesome apartment buddies.

Until next time, have a magical day!

FIVE SECOND DANCE PARTY!

Seriously! Everyone dance for five seconds! I've even provided you with music!

What? Why are we dancing you ask?

BECAUSE I'M IN! I'VE OFFICIALLY BEEN INVITED TO BE A PART OF THE DISNEY COLLEGE PROGRAM!

This morning at 11:38 AM I got this in my e-mail in box:

I'm a merchandise cast member for Fall 2010! YAY!

I'll vlog/blog about the full story tomorrow!

Unitl next time, have a magical day!

A Modern Take On: Sleeping Beauty

Princess Aurora is my favorite of the Disney Princesses. I adore her, and I adore her movie. Sleeping Beauty was Walt Disney's most expensive animated feature and the most sylistic. They didn't just base the movie on the classic fairy tale but the classic ballet as well. So I wanted this outfit to have a ballet theme as well. This is my favorite of the four! I really adore it! I hope you guys do as well!

This is our last "Modern Take" tomorrow we return to our regularly scheduled Top 5's.

Until next time, have a magical day!

My Second Formspring Question!

If you were a hot dog, and you were starving, would you eat yourself?
Oh man, this requires deep thought...hmmm. Okay, I'm ready to answer now. Oh I wish I were an Oscar Meyer weiner that is what I truly want to be, and if I were an Oscar Meyer everyone would be in love with me! And yes, I would eat myself...because hot dogs are DELICIOUS! I might even put a little mustard and chili on myself to add some flavor. ;)

My first Formspring Question!

Is there any role for the program that you really don't want to have?
Hmmm, this is a good question. Is there a role that I wouldn't do? Yes, I wouldn't want to do Transportation. 1) I don't enjoy driving. I do it because it gets me place and helps me be independant (and I can sing as loud as I want in my own car) 2) I am not a good driver. Trust me, no guest would want to be in a Tram/boat/monorail that I would be driving. It wouldn't end well. Plus driving other people around stresses me out (because I don't want to freak them out with my scary driving. ha ha.)

Savings Goal: Update...again

So, you guys know how I was going to slowly save up the money?

Well, I realized that once I saved it up I was just going to use my credit card online any way. Which meant I would still have to pay off the credit card balance.

Well, I decided something.

Instead of slowly saving up the money and THEN buying the the camera. I could go ahead and put the camera on my credit card and then slowly pay off the credit card. It would be the same basic concept. Instead of putting 40% into savings I'll just use 40% of my paycheck to pay off my credit card. I have already paid off all of my previous credit charges (clothes and food and things) and that will be processed tomorrow. All I'll have left to pay off after this week is the camera.

So I went ahead and ordered it.

I changed the camera I wanted though. I ended up going with the Flip MinoHD. It's smaller, lighter, has the same zoom, memory space, and recording time. The battery life is half an hour shorter, but the charging time is 2 hours less AND it comes with a built in rechargable ion-lithium battery. Not to mention the screen on the new MinoHD is anti-glare to make it easier to see the screen in the sun light. As a side note, you can also add a customizable design to the MinoHD (which I did) AND if you buy from Flip's website shipping is free.

It will be here by the end of next week!

It's so exciting!

But I'm still following my savings budget. So I'll probably still update you on my progress paying it off as if I haven't bought it yet.

One things is for sure though...I am not putting anything else on that credit card. (Well, except for a certain $104 dollar fee that I hope to need to pay sometime soon, lol.)

When my Flip gets here I'll post pictures of the design I customized so you guys can see it!

Until next time, have a magical day!

Savings Goal Update!

Alright guys, So I went ahead and paid my first Credit Card statement out of savings. My dad told me that my credit card bill is now my responsibility. Apparently, I'm an adult. So I was able to go ahead and put aside 40% of my paycheck for the Flip Ultra HD. So here's my savings status update:

The Flip Ultra HD Fund:

Overall Goal: $200
Saved So Far: $52.20
Money Still Needed: $147.80

I'm on my way folks! On the 28th I'll get another paycheck so look for an update then!

Until next time, have a magical day!

A Modern Take On: Tinkerbell

I think we can all agree that Tink is the most famous fairy ever. So it was only right that she be included in the "Minnie As" cartoon series that I found. She is also the next character in this "Modern Take" series. I decided to go glamourous and well...sparkly on this one because it just seemed to fit. I love this outfit. It's not my absolute favorite, but I do love it. My favorite outfit will be posted tomorrow. Be on the look out for that!

But with out further ado here's my modern take on Tinkerbell:

Until next time, have a magical day!

A Modern Take On: Cinderella

So chronologically the next Disney Princess to come along after Snow White was Cinderella. Who their just happened to be a "Minnie As" cartoon for too! I think this one is my second favorite of the four outfits. I hope you guys like it just as much!

Tales of a Disney College Program Hopeful -- Vlog #4

Until next time, have a magical day!

A Modern Take On: Snow White

Okay, guys, for the next four days we're going to take a Top 5 break. Don't worry the Top 5 lists WILL be back. Trust me, I've got lots of time to kill, but recently I made four outfits on polyvore.com that I would like to share with you. I found these Minnie Mouse clip arts while searching that have Minnie in four outfits that belong to other Disney Characters so I decided to use those and make modern versions of those famous outfits.

It only makes sense to start with the first Disney princess, Snow White. So here's the outfit I put together for her. It's not my favorite (mostly because it looks like the primary colors threw up all over it, lol.) but I hope you guys like it!

Top 5 Favorite Places to Go in Downtown Disney:

It's officially been one week since my interview! Gah, seriously, longest week ever! Happy Valentine's Day everyone. Here's today's top 5!

I love Downtown Disney. Especially when compared to Universal's CityWalk. CityWalk is just a jumble of chaos. Want to go there with a group of people? Well, if you want to stay together as a group at CityWalk then you can forget it. There's no room to really walk at CityWalk and I always some home get stuck behind the people who move like one inch every five minutes. No, I much prefer Downtown Disney. There's room to breath and great entertainment, dining, and shopping. So, I thought I would share wtih you guys my favorite places to visit in Downtown Disney. Starting with 5 of course:

5. LEGO Imagination Center:

This place is so cool. It brings out the kid in everyone. Espescially once you see the awesome LEGO sculptures. Other than this transformer, there was a dragon and family of tourists. The store itself is awesome. When I was there you could fill up your own bin of LEGOs with you choice of pieces. That's right there's more options than just the girl bucket (pink, purple, and white) and the boy bucket (red, yellow, blue, and white.) I couldn't believe myself at first, ha ha. It's awesome place to visit and I suggest if you haven't checked it out then do so the next time you're in DTD.

4. Tren-D

The ultimate Tween shopping destination, and even if you're not a tween its fun to just browse. There's so many neat clothing items in that store. I say definately check it out. There was this one rolling suitcase that I really wanted the last time I was there, but I couldn't afford it. (Sorry the picture is fuzzy, it's the only one I could find.)

3. Characters in Flight

It's a balloon! Hovering above DTD! It's so cool, the view is quite amazing. I'm not a big fan of heights so it was a little nervewracking but even I could appreciate it. Plus that balloon just LOOKS fun with all those characters on it. It's a must do on at least one trip to Disney.

2. The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique

No joke just seeing the kids come out of this place all decked out like a princess is precious (unless they come out decked out like Hannah Montanna...not so precious to me. Now if they came out as Lola Luffnaggle? That would be completely adorable!) Last time I was there I saw a toddler all made up to look like Tinkerbell. It was so cute! If I had a daughter I would take her here at least once (and only once because it's REALLY expensive.)

1. The World of Disney Store

THIS IS THE BEST DISNEY STORE EVER! I'm not kidding! It may only rivaled by the World of Disney store in New York, but still I think the Downtown Disney store is my favorite. It houses #2 inside as well as TONS of awesome Disney merchandise. The last time we were there we got a free WDW afgan with our purchase. I have it in my car as my emergency blanket. They don't just have T-shirts and park memorabilia though, they have amazing collectibles and a section for every age group! I spent forever browsing the baby section looking for something for my nephew. Check it out when you're in Orlando! Even if you're not there for the Disney Parks! Two summers ago my family went to Orlando strictly for Universal Studios and we STILL went to Downtown Disney and the World of Disney store.

Well, that's all for today's Top 5. Until next time, have a magical day!

My Top 5 Favorite Disney World Shows:

This is a list of my favorite shows past and present. I've included all shows in this list so night time shows are included with the face character and movie themed shows. Disney is known for it's entertainment and spectacle the world wide, and Disney World is home to some of the very BEST examples of that. As usual let's start with my number 5 show:

5. Indiana Jones: Epic Stunt Spectacular

I am a big fan of Indiana Jones. I love every movie in the series (including the fourth one) and to me this show fits right in with them. It really does feel like a behind the scenes tour of how certain stunts were performed for Raiders of the Lost Ark. There's lot of funny jokes that the actors throw back and forth too. It's a very amusing show, and if Disney EVER closes it they will face a LOT of wrath from me. It's a MUST every time I'm in Disney.

4. Cinderellabration

As far as I can tell this show no longer goes on at the Magic Kingdom but it was adorable. All the Disney royalty gathered at Cinderella's Castle to celebrate her coronation. It also contained one of the only appearances Belle's non-beastly prince in the entire park which I loved since we don't get to see the non-beastly prince that often. This show gave the Magic Kingdom a little more magic I think. You really felt like you had stepped into a Disney movie when you were watching this show. It was another happy ending for Cinderella, and I wish it was still going at the Magic Kingdom. It was a lot of fun.

3. the Voyage of the Little Mermaid

The effects in this show are WONDERFUL. I love that at the beginning you go underwater with Ariel. It just makes the show that much more wonderful. The actors in the show are always very good too. It's a must see show. My mom and I were really very surprised by the effects of the show. We didn't expect it to be such an immersive experience, but that's Disney for you. They always have to "plus" things.

2. The Festival of the Lion King

The best show in the Animal Kingdom! At least it was when I was there. I haven't seen the Finding Nemo show so I can't compare the two. But Festival of the Lion King is a show full of so many amazing things! There's trampalines, and larger than life characters, and actors with amazing voices! This has to be the best cast show in all of Disney World. Every performance is jaw dropping. This show also includes the kids in on the fun too. They pull people out of the audience during certain parts of the show. It's just a blast to experience.

1. Fantasmic!

This is my favorite show of all time! The water screens, the pyro, the reenactments, and the huge finale make it a worth while experience every time. The Pocahontas section always makes me happy. I love that moment when Pocahontas can be seen on top of that cliff. It just says everything you need to know about that character. I also love the steamboat at the end with all the characters on it. No kidding, EVERY disney character is on that boat. It's amazing how many actors they're able to fit around it's edges!  And that last line of the show is always my favorite (along with the music that follows), "Some imagination, huh?" It's the most entertaining night time show I've ever seen. The first time I saw it I was blown away and I still am to this day.

That's all for this list, folks! Until next time, have a magical day!

Savings Goal!

Alright guys I talked a little about this earlier, but I've decided what I'm going to do so I'm back to talk about it officially. I've decided to save up for a flash memory camcorder. I've looked around at the different brands and types out there. What I want is something that can fit in my pocket, upload to the internet easily, record at night, and go with my every where. I was looking around and had it narrowed down to two. The Sony Bloggie or the Flip UltraHD. I looked at specs and customer reviews and it looks like the Flip UltraHD comes out on top!

So here's my plan:

40% of my paycheck is going to go toward savings from here on out.

(Actually the majority of my next paycheck is going to my dad. I have to pay him back for some clothing items I bought. But after THAT 40% of my paycheck is going toward savings, lol)

My goal is $200. What I've found is cheaper than that, but last time I bought a camera I saved JUST enough to buy the camera and it ended up costing me about $80 more for the other things I needed to USE the camera so this time I'm factoring in any accesory costs. I'm very bad with money, but I figure this is a good way to improve. I'm going to cut out buying anything I don't need from here on out. Anything else I want I can ask for as presents, lol.

So right now the Flip UltraHD fund looks like this:

Paying back Dad: $0
Flip Ultra HD: $0
Current Goal: $200

That will change when I get my paycheck on Monday or Tuesday.

Until next time, have a magical day!

My Top 5 Favorite Disney World Resorts

Alright so we're back for another Top 5! This one is my Top 5 favorite resorts! I've only stayed on the Disney Property once but when I did it was immensely enjoyable. These resorts that I've picked our my favorites to look at or ones I would really like to Stay in! So Enjoy!

5. All Star Movies Resort

Look at that giant Woody statue! It's totally awesome and makes me want to stay there! lol!

This resort and all the value resorts are amazing deals! Even when the rates are high it's still worth it. You get to stay in the middle of all the Disney magic AND receive guest benefits like Extra Magic Hours and certain resort guest only discounts. Things at the resort gift shops are usually a little cheaper than they would be at the parks too! If you book at the right times you can stay here for $89 a night! That's an awesome deal! The first time I make a trip down there with friends I WILL be staying there. I think it looks like a lot of fun!

4. Port Orleans (Riverside or French Quarter):

I think the atmostphere at this resort must be pretty wonderful. Every picture I've seen looks beautiful!

This is another resort that I plan on staying at eventually. I think it looks like it would be beautiful and a great place to explore. Disney tends to go all out with their themes and I've heard the on site restaurants for this resort are no exception! Also, to bring out the kid in you...there's a dragon waterslide! Yes a DRAGON. It looks AWESOME. This is a moderate resort so it's a little more expensive than All Star Movies but you get extra amenities that totally make it worth the additional cost!

3. Wilderness Lodge:

This resort is beautiful on the inside and out!

On my last trip to Disney World my family and I walked through this resort. I was surprised at how beautiful it was! There's a small creek that runs under the floor of the Lobby! It's so cool! I've also heard the food at the resort is delicious too! I've heard the rooms are spacious and nice, and I LOVE the geiser! Plus the free form pool looks like a lot of fun to me. This is one of my dream places to stay. Hopefully I will get to one day.

2. The Grand Floridian:

They're not kidding about the "Grand" part are they?

Take a look at this picture and tell me if it looks familliar. If it doesn't then you didn't watch TV in the 90s. See that piano in the lobby? That's where Uncle Jesse serenaded people in the lobby while he waited to apologize to Becky. That's right. I just referenced Full House. What are you gonna do about it? I have loved this resort ever since I saw it on that episode. Now, I am not obsessed with Full House, but I do have that show to thank for showing me how beautiful this resort is! It's classic and beautiful! I'm about to go 14 year old girl on you and tell you that this is always where I imagined staying on my honeymoon. My parents and I also walked through this lobby the last time we were in Disney World and I have to tell you it is JUST as beautiful in person! I love this resort!

1. Old Key West

The little known jewell of Disney resorts, in my oppinion.

I stayed here after my high school graduation with my parents and a friend. They let me plan our trip as part of my present and I found this quaint little Villa resort because it had a lower rate during our vacation week than many other resrots. Plus it was a villa with a kitchen so we could bring groceries and save money on food. The resort was beautiful and had very helpful Cast members! We checked in early and they held our bags until our room was ready so we could head out into the park. When we got back our room was ready to go and our bags were waiting for us inside. We had all of our souvineers delivered back to our room that week which was very convenient when you were riding rides. Plus the pool was HUGE. It never felt too crowded and had a great water slide for the kids. The water slide looked like a giant sandcastle. I even saw some parents taking trips down the slide. The restaurant (Olivia's) was very delicious, and the gift shop had everyhing on sale. The bus came all the way down to our building to pick us up and head to the parks, and there is a golf course on property! My dad loved that and made good use of it! He even made a hole in one that week! He got a special ball and plaque and everything! All in all, I LOVE this resort and would gladly stay there again and again.

That's all for this list! Until next time, have a magical day!

Tales of a Disney College Program Hopeful -- Vlog #3

This is my third vlog that I basically made out of boredom! Nothing new to really report. ENJOY!

Until next time, have a magical day!

Top 5 Favorite Attractions at Disney World!

Today we're going to look at my Top 5 favorite attractions at Disney World. I feel kind of bad because all five of them come from two parks, but these are my five favorites. I will ride them over and over and over again in the same day. That's how much I love them.

Here we go:

5. The Haunted Mansion

My favorite part of this ride is actually not the ride. I love everything you can spot while you're standing in line.

I LOVE this ride. It's got such an amazing atmosphere. There's so many things to see and hear while you're standing in line. The howling dog, the horseless herse, the gravestones...I find something new every time I ride it. I also think it's amazing that most of the effects are just simple manipulations of reflection and light. It makes this ride that much more awesome. It's definately one of the best rides at the Magic Kingdom.

4. Rockin' Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith

The anticipation of the take off is the best and most thrilling part.

Another amazing ride! One of my favorite things about this ride is the take off build up. The first time I rode it all the signs and warnings really got to me. I was convinced I was going to be shoved back into my seat and have my bones shaken to the core. Even better was my dad's reaction. We got in line and when we finally reached the loading area there was a full car waiting to be launched. My dad looked away for a split second and it was gone. He looked at me with wide eyes and said, "That was it? Where did it go?" I laughed so hard at the look on his face. This is one of the best and most thrilling coasters in Orlando.

3. The Hollywood Tower of Terror

The set decoration on this one is AMAZING, and the attraction operators are always creepy which is a bonus.

Disney made a smart move when it decided to have a ride linked to the Twilight Zone. The inside sets that you see as you walk through the line are wonderfully convincing! The dust and the cobwebs and the props really do give the authentic feel that the occupants of this hotel just dissappeared and left all their things behind. The attractions operators on this one are always the best too. They know how to work the creepy. I love that the drop is never the same on this one. It makes every ride different and exciting. So good story for this one too. My mom and I rode this one together while my dad was off golfing at our resort, and the sound for the Twilight Zone exposition of the ride wasn't working. We could see the images but we couldn't hear anything. So, just as we get to the drop my mom all but yells, "I hope the rest of this ride still works!" Every one in the car turned to glare at us as we dropped. Yep, folks, that's my mom for you. Not afraid to say what's on her mind, lol.

2. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Great fun for all ages. Just the right amount of thrills.

This ride is just good fun! This is always the first thing that I ride at the Magic Kingdom. It's a great warm up for things like Splash Mountain and Space Mountain. It's got enough twists and turns to be a lot of fun, but not so many that you exclude kids who may be intimidated by roller coasters. It's like the safe middle ground between Rockin' Roller Coaster and the Barnstormer. Not too little, but not too old. My friend and I rode this the first night of our stay and I guess at night they turn off the water because the next day we convinced my mom to go on it by telling her she wouldn't get wet and what do you know? The water was on. She didn't get soaked but she did get wet. My friend and I gave her apologetic looks as the first waterfall came up. She took it in good stride though.

1. Splash Mountain

One of the Magic Kingdoms many mountains, and by far the best.

A trip to Walt Disney World is NEVER complete with out a ride on Splash Mountain. It's a combination of thrills and signature Disney Animatronics. The story is engaging for kids and nostalgic for adults, and the drop is ALWAYS fun! I must admit this ride surpassed my expectations the first time I rode it. There's a lot more to it than I expected. I rode it three times in a row after that initial first time. My parents had to force me to find another ride. It's a Magic Kingdom staple and one of the best rides at Disney World.

That's all for todays Top 5! Come back tomorrow for another one!

Until next time, have a magical day!

My "Wait" Watchers Outfit...

"Wait" Watchers Outfit

"Wait" Watchers Outfit by angellwings featuring Volcom bags

This is the outfit I sort of have that I wore for my interview. The only differences are my Wayfarers aren't authentic Ray-bans and my Mickey Mouse shirt is tie-dyed with Red and Blue. But I LOVE this outfit dearly. Since I'm currently in a place that is covered in snow I had to include that North Face jacket back there.  But I managed to include some of my favorite stores and brands! American Eagle, Volcom, Ray-Ban, North Face, Blowfish, and H&M. Just thought I would throw this up for fun. I'm not a fashionista but I do love to shop.

Something to Keep Me Busy...

Yes, I know that it is insanely early. I went to bed early last night and the body seems to refuse to let me have more than 7 hours of sleep at a time. I have nothing else to do which results in me blogging at quater after 5 in the morning.

So, I'm starting to go a little crazy already. I think the white envelope fake out messed me up completely, lol! I need something to keep me busy (school work is apparently not doing the job) so today I made up a whole bunch of Top 5 lists about Disney. I've made enough to keep me busy for a LONG time.

I've decided it will be something fun to do as opposed to boring you all with the details of my boring existence. I'm probably going to keep making lists as long as I don't hear, lol. I'm waiting to do the "dream locations" stuff until after I hear whether I'm in or not. I really don't want to count my chickens before they've hatched and jinx myself.

I'm currently passing the time by waiting on a blizzard that may never come. I really want classes cancelled today (which of course means they probably won't be.)

Be on the look out for the first Top 5 List coming up really soon!

Until next time, have a magical day!

My First DCP Fake Out...

Okay, so far during all of this I've done pretty well. I haven't been freaking out when I have new e-mails and I haven't expected anything to be in the mail. Yesterday though, I nearly had a heart attack.

Gather round kids, I'll tell you a story.

I got off the bus at my apartment complex, and as usual on the way to my apartment I stopped to check the mailbox. I wasn't expecting anything to be in the box. Maybe a greeting card from my "adopted" parents at Church or a promotional notice from HP, but that was about it. Lo and behold, I open my box and there's a BIG, white envelope inside. I nearly dropped my keys. I thought, "No, that can't be my acceptance. I just interviewed yesterday!"

I reached in and pulled out the folder sized envelope slowly. My anticipation was building with every centimeter, and then I saw the return address, "Winston-Salem Monthly." My shoulders sagged and I chuckled at myself. It was copies of the magazine I was going to be interning with over the summer. I had forgotten that I had spoken with my future supervisor about sending me a few issues to look over. I laughed at myself and thought that I should have known better. Disney may respond fast, but not THAT fast.

And that, my lovelies, is our story for the day. Don't forget to formspring me any questions you have in the beautiful purple box to your right. Also I added an MP3 player of my in progress "Think Purple Mix." If the music annoys you can simply press the big purple pause buttom on the very bottom right of the page.

Until next time, have a magical day!

The Waiting Game Begins...

Day 1 of waiting! So I started to feel the effects of the waiting game last night when I was looking over the facebook group at all the people who have been invited already. I just want to be there so bad! LOL. But I won't hear for at least 9-11 days and more than likely it will be a little over 2 or 3 weeks. My recruiter was pretty confidant that I would hear back before the 4 week mark since it was still early in the application stage.

I have class today, ugh. I thought that maybe things would freeze over last night and we would get a delay, but no. Luckily today is one of my shorter days which means I'll be home around 3:30. So, my car is at home with my parents. Ruby the Escahpay is not feeling too well right now so dad took her to his mechanic. I'm going crazy with out my car. I have to rely on my roomie to get me to the grocery store (which I need to go buy food soon. I'll have to ask the roomie if she can take me tonight or tomorrow night.) After a week with out my car I KNOW I'm going to want it with me in Florida should I get in.

I've also decided to save up for some kind of video recording device. My awesome camera will record video, but it takes up a lot of space on my memory card. So, I've decided 40% of my paycheck is going to be put in my savings account for a video recording device of some kind. I want something small that will make it easy to get the video from the camera to the computer and then to YouTube. If you guys have any suggestions let me know!

I feel so relieved now that the process is out of my hands, but at the same time I know that the wait for the Purple Folder/e-mail is going to distract me to no end. I'll just have to burry myself in schoolwork and the daycare. That should help, and if it doesn't I'll just make YouTube my homepage and watch a ton of Disney World videos.

BTW if you guys want to check out some of my design work from my classes you can go here: http://www.angellwings.posterous.com/

I post all of the things I make for my classes there. I would love it if you guys would check them out and let me know what you think!

Until next time, have a magical day!

The Acceptances Have Started to Roll Out!

At around 3 PM yesterday Disney started sending out acceptance e-mails to people who interviewed on or before the 26th of January (which obviously doesn't include me, lol.) But It's still nice to know that people are hearing back before the 4-6 week mark! Maybe I won't have to wait very long to hear back from them! Some people heard back with in ten days of their interview!

My interview is tomorrow so ten days from tomorrow is...the 17th. That's a Wednesday, but it's looks like Disney sends most of their e-mails out on Friday afternoons so probably around Friday the 19th I'll start checking my e-mail and mail box obsessively. Also to help me out with the wait I took Abby of the Abby in Wonderland (who was one of the ones to get accepted yesterday) blog's suggestion and ordered a Disney Vacation Planning DVD. It should be here in 2-3 weeks. Here's hoping I'll hear back from Disney before it gets here.

It looks like a lot of people have been getting their 4th and 5th choices so I'm preparing myself just in case I don't get Character Attendant or Merchandise. I'll be perfectly okay with my other choices, but I feel like Merchandise is a realistic choice. A lot of people have been getting that one.

Anyway, that's enough DCP talk for today. You'll hear more from me about it tomorrow after my interview! For now though, since I'm snowed in, I wanted to fill out this survey type of thing that I saw on someone's blog. Just for fun! :)

Which movie is your favorite?
Sleeping Beauty

Which movie has the best story?
Beauty and the Beast

No

Have you ever been to Disney World?
Yes, Twice.

Have you been to any of the other Disney Parks around the world?
No.

What’s your favorite ride?
Splash Mountain...or Big Thunder Mountain. I love them both equally.

What’s your least favorite ride?
It's a Small World no offense to Walt Disney, but I just can't take that song. (Unless you're talking about the beautiful medley Kerry Butler recorded of Small World and God Help the Outcasts. I love that version!)

The Festival of the Lion King or Fantasmic. The Festival of the Lion King is my favorite park daytime show, but Fantasmic is my favorite night time show.

Which is the best hotel on Disney property?
Old Key West. I just love everything about it. The relaxed vibe, the service, the theme. It was just beautiful.

No School, No School, La La La La La La!

Hopefully when you read the above title you picture the hyenas from the Lion King singing and dancing as they did in "Be Prepared", lol. I know I do! I tried to find a video of it to add to the post for effect but all I found was this multilingual vid that showed the scene over and over again in different languages. Well, the university closed today due to snow! YAY! I managed to finish all of my assignments and e-mail the people I needed to this morning still though, so now I'm blogging.

I told my self last time that I wasn't going to blog until Friday, and now it's Friday!

My family is supposed to get together at my grandmother's house tonight. We do this thing called "First Friday" where on the first Friday of every month we all get together for dinner and a movie at my grandmother's. This time I can't go, and I'm sad about that. But I've told dad to have every one Skype me if they end up going over there so I might still get to talk to my family tonight.

Alright, some of you who are my friends on facebook might have seen my minor freak out from yesterday. Let me explain. I was looking around disboards.com and I found this thread where people talked about rejections. That was my first mistake. As I read through I found out that some people were rejected because they only selected 5-8 roles. I immediately panicked because I only picked 5. I continued to freak out for a couple of hours until my cousin and some hopeful CPers snapped me out of it.

I realized I could do one of two things:
1. tell the recruiter at my interview that I would be open to more roles than the ones I checked.
2. I could go back to the college program site and revise my check list. (Yes, you can do that if you haven't had your phone intervew. Which I haven't had mine yet. 2 days to go!)

I chose to revise my checklist. I took another look at the roles and decided to check all the roles that I would be willing to do and not just the ones I was incredibly eager to do. This took my checked roles total up to 11. I was happy with that so I saved it, printed it, and looked over it again to see if that changed my top roles. It really didn't. Over the past couple of days I had rearranged it anyway but this really only drastically changed one thing...my number 5 slot:

1. Character Attendant
2. Merchandise
3. Hospitality
4. Concierge
5. Attractions

As you can see vacation planning has been bumped from my list. I just decided that I wouldn't be able to handle the sales goals very well. I would stress myself out. I work at a daycare so I can handle children, guests, and lots of things going on at once, but I know I could not take the pressure of sales goals. So, vacation planning was bumped in favor of attractions. I think it would be a real learning experience for me to do that role, but I doubt I'll be asked about it in my inerview. I'm banking on being asked about my top four so that's what I've prepared for.

Side Note: I downloaded some things to spiffy up my next Vlog! Which will hopefully be posted on Sunday night after I've had my interview. I'll try to remember as many details as possible for you guys!

Until next time...have a magical day! ;)

Dear Readers, I'm Spoiling You...

Don't expect a blog everyday because I know me and I know I won't deliver a post everyday. I told myself I wasn't going to post today, but then Boone got all this sleet and every body's operating on a 2 and a half or 3 hour delay. My 9 AM shift at the daycare became a 10:30 AM shift. So here I am...

This is the world outside my window right now:
Look at all that snow...and you can't tell but it's sleeting on top of that!

Let's hope it keeps sleeting and I don't have to go to work or class, but knowing my school that will never happen. I suspect it's run by a bunch of yankees who don't freak the heck out when it snows like us southerners do.

I honestly believe that I'll have to catch the bus at 10 for work and go to all of my afternoon classes, but I'm daring to hope that at 9:30 I'll get an e-mail saying that at least 12:30 and 2:00 classes are cancelled. That would mean I only have to go to one class today. So, cross your fingers.

Cross your fingers on your other hand though because your other fingers should already be crossed. You know in reference to a certain purple folder I'm DYING to recieve.

So, let's talk about planning for acceptance or rejection from the DCP.

Here's the plan if I'm accepted:
1. Pay fee
2. Send in necessary paperwork to the program and the school
3. Wait to go

Here's the plan if I'm rejected:
1. scrounge around for an apartment!
2. rush to schedule the classes I need.
3. Wait to apply for Spring 2011

So since I really don't want to have to go insane searching for an apartment in Boone at the last minute OR stress myself out trying to get into the courses I need to graduate AFTER everyone's registered let's plan on me getting in. Good plan right?

Also I reprinted my appliclation and my Role Check List last night so I know everything I told them on my application. Which is good because I had totally forgotten. I was too excited to remember. But now I know for sure that I applied for the following roles:

Mercahndise
Hospitality
Character Attendant
Vacation Planner
Concierge

and the order of their rank goes as follows:

1. Character Attendant
2. Merchandise
3. Concierge
4. Vacation Planning
5. Hospitality

I've heard they ask for your top three, but I've also heard they're very selective about the role of Concierge. I also know that Character Attendant is a really hard role to land because so many people apply for it. But we'll see how it goes on Sunday, and believe me I will blogging about it immediately after!

Until next time! Have a magical day! ;)

[INFOPOST] What is the Disney College Program?

I've gotten this question a lot since I started this blog, and since I have about half an hour until my group meeting at four I thought I would take a few minutes to answer that question.

The Disney College Program is basically a paid internship that allows college students to spend a semester working at the Disney Parks and Resorts. For a lot of people it is the first step towards a career with Disney. I'm hoping to be one of those people. The program really only takes place during the semester, but they do have a summer program for Alumni. You can take classes while being a part of the program. I plan on taking at least one class. They give you a place to live (and automatically deduct weekly rent from your paycheck.) If you're a DCP alumni you have the opportunity to apply for certain internships that other people can't which could lead to a career with the Disney Company.

And that, my friends is the Disney College Program in a nutshell.

I added a Formspring to this blog so if you're reading this and you have questions for me then feel free to ask! I would be more than happy to answer them!

I got an Interview!

If you look to your right ---->

You'll see a beautiful little countdown "nametag". Do you want to know why?

BECAUSE I JUST SCHEDULED MY INTERVIEW!

I was a little nervous (I have no idea why) and it was a little awkward because the woman talked really fast. I had to ask her to repeat things a couple of times, but we got it scheduled! I'll be interviewing on Sunday the 7th at 2:15 PM! YAY!

Now I just have to be patient and wait for Sunday. *sigh* I'm really not good at waiting.
